MISSION:
It is the mission of Bluegrass
Professional School of Massage Therapy to provide comprehensive, on-going
professional training in therapeutic massage as a career. We are
helping students understand the principles and relationships in therapeutic
massage. By promoting the highest educational and professional
standards; we strive to further the public's respect and acceptance of
therapeutic massage.
BPM, INC's History:
Since 1988, Bluegrass
Professional Massage, Inc. has been training students in the art and science
of therapeutic massage, preparing them to become part of the allied health
care professionals. Bluegrass Professional School of Massage Therapy
is Approved and Licensed by the Kentucky Commission on Proprietary Education.
Bluegrass Professional School of Massage Therapy's current 650-hour program is accepted by the
National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork
and allows you to sit for the NCBTMB's licensing test (NESL), You will need to take the NESL or the MBLEx before you can obtain your license to practice massage therapy from the state of Kentucky.
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENT:
Individuals applying to
Bluegrass Professional School of Massage Therapy must:

Be age 18 years old when
class ends & have a High School Diploma, GED, or the legal equivalent.

Satisfy all requirements
described in the Bluegrass Professional School of Massage Therapy
application, (read back of the application for requirements)

Be in good physical and
emotional health in order to complete all course work without compromising
technical skills, as well as to receive work from other students.
Limitations might include: Pregnancy; debilitating acute or chronic
pain; tuberculosis; movement injuries; a debilitating emotional state.

Accept the policies and
procedures as set forth by Bluegrass Professional School of Massage
Therapy.

Non-USA Residents must have
proper credentials, and or Visa's, etc.
APPLICATION / ADMISSIONS
PROCEDURES:

Submit a completed
application form and all required documentation.
Enclose a check in the amount of $60 payable to BPSMT
(application fee is non-refundable, unless classes are full and no
positions are open).

Upon receipt of your
application, the Board of Directors will contact you to arrange an
interview.
-
After the interview,
applications are reviewed and the decision to accept or deny the
application is made. Applicants are notified in person at time of
the interview or in writing or by phone, of their status.

Within three (3) days
of the interview, a Deposit
of $2000.00 on the tuition is required at that time to hold your position
in the class and is non-refundable. If you choose to pay
your tuition up front, you can pay the deposit then, and the rest by the
first day of class, or you can pay it all at the interview with a
discount, or within three (3) days of the interview. Regardless,
the $2000.00 deposit will still remain non-refundable. Please keep this
in mind when setting up your interview date.

Credit can be given for classes taken elsewhere, see back of application, or contact school. If credit hours are accepted, you will receive a discounted tuition rate at $5 per credit hour, deducted from the standard tuition of $6000.00. Credit Hours must be less than 4 years old and approved by the board. ***Hours at BPSMT will most likely not transfer to another school. ***
- Class size is limited. Acceptance into the program is a selection process determined by the personal motivation and goals, maturity, physical and emotional state, and academic and financial ability and is at the Board's sole discretion.

Criteria for Acceptance: Individuals applying to Bluegrass
Professional School of Massage Therapy must display a basis for Course
work in related sciences, manual massage techniques, and communication
skills both with the Public and Co-Workers, and have no felony
convictions, past or present. You will be required to sign an affidavit stating that you
understand the ramifications of lying to the Massage Board about any
felony or misdemeanor convictions, and that the school will not be
responsible for any student who misrepresents themselves while attending
Bluegrass Professional School of Massage Therapy.

TUITION
Tuition for any course is $6000.00, if paid up front it will be discounted to $5600.00
Tuition for the 9-12-18 month course
can be paid in several different ways. The options are listed on this
web page.
You do not need a
massage table for classroom instruction. You may want to purchase one
later, but you do not need it for class
or the student clinic.

Plans for Bluegrass Professional School of Message Therapy
The course tuition starting June 2014 is $6200.00 , (Cash or Check only)
(There is a $200.00 fee if using a credit card,
regardless of which option is taken).
You may pay the
non-refundable
deposit of $2000.00 at the time of signing and remaining
$4200.00 your 1st day of class without any additional charges.
(Cash / Check only). (Remember: There is a $200.00 fee if using a credit
card).
If you wish to make payments, there is a
$200.00 fee for any of the Payment Options listed below. Regardless of which
option you take...there is a
non-refundable deposit of $2000.00 due at the time
you sign up for the course.
9 MONTH COURSE

Weekly: $120.00 for
35 weeks, this includes your 1st week and depending on when you sign up, may be due with your
non-refundable $2000.00 deposit, and is the balance of $4200.00 plus the installment fee of $200.00, minus your deposit of $2000.00 from the tuition costs of
$6200.00. Monthly: $840.00

POLICIES REGARDING PAYMENTS:
All policies
regarding refunds and dismissals are the same regardless of how the tuition
is paid or whether you have chosen the 9 month, 12 month or 18 month course.
A late fee of $10.00 a week, will be added to any payments that are made
after their due date. ALL tuition must be paid in full before graduation, as
well as a passing grade, and a copy of your current CPR certification must
be in your file in order to graduate and receive your Certification and
transcripts.
650 Hour Course
Outline
Anatomy and Physiology: 200 Hours Learning
Objectives:
-
Define and explain important term's students will
use in this section.

Define and derive the meaning of medical terms.
-
Know why a massage therapist should have a good
understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathology.
-
Know the 10 important body systems.
-
Name the different planes and regions of the
body.
-
Know the major contraindications of massage.
-
Includes 50 Hours in Pathology.
Basic Massage Theory and Practice: 250 Hours
-
Student will be taught how to do a basic massage
from head to foot.
-
Different styles and forms will be added as the
students progresses.
-
Students will learn how to put their academic
knowledge of the body and contraindications to practical use during
massage.
-
Classes will have hands on demonstrations
followed by practice of those techniques by the students on each other,
Staff members, family and friends, or the public as assigned by their
instructors. Students will have to do at least 100 hours of massage
practice in the student clinic or as assigned. See Student Clinic
requirements below.

On the academic side, students will be taught
about basic equipment used in massage applications and hydrotherapy
(applications of heat and cold packs, etc.).

Students will learn how to do a consultation,
observation, charting and when to refer to and consult a physician's
expertise.

Students will be required to do a Public Service
Project, and/or other projects relating to massage and/or anatomy, as
assigned by their instructor(s).
Statutes, Rules, Ethics and Business Practices: 200 Hours
- Effects, Benefits, Indications and
Contraindications of Massage (15 hours) - Client Documentation and HIPPA;
Insurance Billing (30 hours) - The Business of Massage (50 hours)
Including but limited to Marketing, Bookkeeping, Client Records and
Retention - Legal Issues involving Massage (15 hours) - History of
Massage (10 hours) - Requirements for the Practice of Massage, including
State Regulations and Scope of Practice issues; Educational
Requirements before and after licensure, and NESL Exam vs. MBLex (25 hours)
- Professional Ethics (10 hours) - CPR Training (10 hours) - Other
Somatic and Energetic Therapies: ( 35 hours) Including
but not limited to Reiki, Reflexology, Chakra's, Polarity, and Chair Massage
Student Clinic: (hours are included in
Theory and Practice)

All students will be required to do 100
practical hours, in the student clinic or under supervision of a Medical
Professional (i.e.) Chiropractor, Physical Therapist) or other provider
as determined by Program Director.

performed will be determined by the Program Director.
